The Internet is a perfect place to communicate. With multiple platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok, and various dating apps, it has surely become easy to communicate. Many times we get DMs from people we least expect it from. Sometimes the messages are formal and the rest of the time they are informal. To slide into DMs is an informal way of conversation.
If someone texts you with the intent of taking the conversation in a romantic way or wants to flirt with you then they are said to be Sliding into your DMs. You can also slide into DMs if you want to have a romantic conversation with someone or would like to flirt with them. Isn’t it a very well-known tactic to slide into people’s DMs by replying to their status or stories on social media? Yes! We all know how the drill is.
We might often like someone on social media and would want to take things further by communicating with them. There has to be a start to that in some way. What better way to initiate a conversation rather than just waiting for things to magically create an opportunity?
Example –
“You remember Kayla from freshmen year? I liked her a lot ever since I saw her for the first time. Last night I slid into her DMs and now we are going on a date!” Here the person is explaining how sliding into a batchmate’s DMs has helped him get a date with her.
“Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity. Just slide into DMs. That way you can get to know if he likes you.” What better way to know than to communicate?
“Don’t just slide into DMs like this and later ghost them. Have meaningful conversations and later make sure you have put yourself out there.” This is something we all should do without getting scared of the outcome!
