The Ultimate Guide to Top 15 Social Media Scheduling Tools in 2024

In life, timing is everything. Whether it’s seizing a business opportunity, making a personal decision, or sharing content online, the right timing can make all the difference. This is especially true in the world of social media, where engaging with your audience at the right moment is key to success. Social media thrives on immediate interaction, and being able to post when your audience is most active can significantly impact your engagement rates. As algorithms increasingly prioritize fresh and timely content, mastering the art of posting at the optimal time becomes crucial for any social media strategy.

However, managing multiple platforms and ensuring each post goes live at the perfect time can be overwhelming. This is where social media scheduling tools come in. The internet is full of guides and lists of the best scheduling tools, but the truth is that the best tool for you is the one that fits your specific needs. It’s not just about queuing posts anymore – modern tools help you discover new possibilities, analyze trends, and engage more efficiently with your audience.

The right social media scheduling tool can do far more than just automate posting times. It can offer insights, track performance, and even suggest the best time to post based on analytics. With advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), managing your social media tasks is easier than ever. AI-powered tools now offer a comprehensive platform where you can not only schedule your posts but also create, curate, and analyze content all from one place. These tools help take the guesswork out of social media management, freeing up your time so you can focus on strategy and creativity.

Why are Social Media Scheduling Tools Important?

The importance of social media scheduling tools has skyrocketed because they save time, improve efficiency, and ensure that content is published consistently. Without schedulers, managing multiple social media platforms would require constant attention, making it difficult to maintain a steady flow of content. These tools automate the posting process, allowing you to plan and schedule posts in advance, ensuring that your content reaches your audience during peak engagement times or outside regular working hours.

Another key reason social media schedulers are important is that they help in organizing your content strategy. You can view all planned posts in a calendar format, making it easier to ensure a balanced mix of content types, such as promotional posts, educational pieces, or engagement-focused updates. This organization helps maintain a consistent brand voice across all channels.

Schedulers also provide performance analytics, which are crucial for understanding what’s working and what needs improvement. By tracking metrics like engagement rates, clicks, and follower growth, you can make informed decisions about future content. In short, social media scheduling tools simplify content management and enhance the effectiveness of your social media efforts.

Promoting my content and brand is VERY hard to do solo or as a small team. Social media posting is often one of the areas that doesn’t get the attention it needs. That is until I bought Predis.ai The advanced AI post generation is truly so invaluable to me that without it I don’t think I’d be able to even post to social media regularly. I absolutely love the ability to set my brand colors and templates so that I can have a consistent look and feel to the posts. “Great alternative to well known social media management programs”

Zoho has a robust suite of inexpensive high powered programs. I have been searching for my social media management unicorn and have tried nearly everything on the market. Does not have automatic image resizing so photos have to be readjusted at times.

Zoho Social is a great choice for businesses already embedded in the Zoho ecosystem, offering seamless integration with other Zoho products. Its collaboration tools and social listening features make it ideal for businesses looking to engage with their audience in real-time. However, for users looking for more advanced reporting or Instagram capabilities, Zoho Social may feel a bit restrictive. “Buffer is a Solid Bargain Option”

Buffer has been good to me, but I think I may have outgrown it. I’m sticking with it for now, as I’m grandfathered in but I find myself posting manually more often than not. Buffer was the first scheduling app that really stuck with me and I like the overall culture of their company, transparency, etc. For a while it was great for scheduling. Over time, the cons have piled up. Instagram functionality has not kept up with what’s offered on the app (collaborator tagging, etc) so posting requires semi-automated workarounds vs full automation.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

Buffer is an excellent choice for small businesses or individuals looking for a simple, user-friendly social media scheduling tool. Its clean interface, basic analytics, and multi-platform support make it an ideal option for users who don’t need a lot of advanced features. However, for businesses that require more robust analytics, in-depth reporting, or social listening tools, Buffer might feel limited. Overall, Buffer remains a solid option for basic social media management at an affordable price point.

“It’s a great product but there are better options”

I have liked it and used it often but it’s not the best on the market anymore. It just has the brand name recognizeability. I like that it’s simple, easy, and straightforward. For what it does, it works and does the job well. I hate the price point. I used to think that this was the best deal I could get for scheduling software, but I have since found other options that work better and go the distance! I will not be returning to Later if they don’t uplevel their pricing and features soon!

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

Later is an excellent choice for businesses and individuals who prioritize visual content, particularly on Instagram. The platform shines with its Instagram-specific features, such as carousel scheduling, Linkin.bio, and UGC discovery tools. However, if you need advanced analytics or are heavily focused on platforms other than Instagram, you might find Later somewhat limiting. Its clean interface, ease of use, and visual-first approach make it a strong contender for brands in fashion, beauty, travel, or any industry that thrives on aesthetics.

“Very Less Features Available ”

I think they need to revamp there user experience to be in the market again. I don’t think so because it just old school and the new products available in market are more cool, more features and more interactive. I used to use Hootsuite only in past years when we don’t have that much option available for social media content scheduling. I have realized the new products have more features available as compared to Hootsuite. I found cool features like AI integration in the content thing in new products and what tone you want for your content.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

Hootsuite remains a top choice for businesses that need a comprehensive social media management solution. Its robust set of features, including advanced scheduling, social listening, and detailed analytics, make it suitable for medium to large businesses with complex social media needs. However, its higher price point and steeper learning curve may deter smaller businesses or individuals. “Thought this software was great, turns out we had many problems”

When we started using we had very high hopes for how this program would work and make our daily office work more efficient, however, we have spent significant time correcting failed posts and disconnects. Unfortunately, we have had to go back to posting natively. Overall, Sprout Social is easy to use and easy to learn. It is organized in a way that is easy to navigate. The sales team is great at answering questions and making the sale. After the sale has been made it is difficult to receive timely responses and feedback. There are no exceptions for ending service with them, except for referring a new customer and having them sign up.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

Sprout Social is ideal for larger businesses and enterprises that need advanced social media management tools. Its combination of scheduling, analytics, CRM integration, and social listening makes it a powerhouse for brands looking to maximize their social media strategy. While the price point may be prohibitive for small businesses, its advanced features make it a great option for organizations that require a data-driven, collaborative approach to social media management. “Great software could use minor edits to make it the best”

Easy to use, quick learning, lots of organisation available, great analytics! App is lacking. Would be nice to be able to use the app like the website rather than just get notifications. Feels like a waste.

Capterra: User Review

“After a few months of use, I decided to skip this application”

It was too restrictive and too low quality for the investment it represents. In the end, you can get a result just as interesting by using your phone or simply the instagram web interface. I liked the promise of being able to easily schedule my instagram posts as well as being able to easily manage multiple accounts for feed and posting. The software does not live up to its promise. It is already difficult and quite painful to link an instagram account, it is absolutely necessary to connect and give rights of use on a facebook account.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

Planoly is a top choice for businesses, influencers, and brands that rely heavily on visual content, particularly for Instagram and Pinterest. Its visual-first approach and Instagram Stories planner set it apart from other social media scheduling tools. However, the limited platform support and basic analytics might be a downside for users who need a more comprehensive tool. For those focusing on Instagram and Pinterest, Planoly is an excellent tool that simplifies content planning and scheduling.

Capterra: User Review

“Okay, but not the best for agencies”

We used Loomly for about a year before switching to Hootsuite. Ultimately, we felt Hootsuite was better suited for agencies. The calendar functionality makes it easy to visualize posts across many social channels and stay organized. It’s also very easy to use. It’s a little more expensive than Hootsuite, the reporting is subpar, and it doesn’t work correctly on all the social channels we require.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

Loomly is an excellent tool for teams and agencies that require strong collaboration features, especially for those managing multiple accounts across different platforms. Its user-friendly interface, content inspiration features, and approval workflows make it a strong contender for larger teams. However, its pricing can be a bit steep for smaller businesses or individuals, and the analytics, while helpful, are not as in-depth as some other tools. For teams seeking an efficient way to plan, collaborate, and publish social media content, Loomly is a great option.

Capterra: User Review

“A good Social Media automation tool that could benefit from some enhancements”

Great customer service format, and support tools. I appreciate the type of service they want to provide, but could benefit from a few improvements to make it a truly comprehensive social media automation tool. Meet Edgar schedules, shares, and recycles posts. While it is a useful tool to help schedule posts simultaneously, there are a number of issues that prevent this from being a reality (sometimes need to schedule on Facebook separately from LinkedIn, Twitter). There is no feature that allows you to monitor comments, and other forms of engagements from within the app. This is a critical feature that would be useful in a more advanced community management mindset.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

MeetEdgar is a solid choice for freelancers, solopreneurs, and small businesses that want to automate their social media presence with minimal effort. Its content recycling feature is perfect for those who want to maximize the reach of their evergreen posts. However, its limited analytics and higher pricing compared to other tools with more advanced features might be a drawback for larger teams or businesses that require deeper insights. If your focus is on saving time and keeping your content flowing, MeetEdgar is a great option.

Capterra: User Review

“Could be amazing but needs some fixes”

Even though it is a great program, there are major flaws they need to figure out. What I love about socialbee is it has content categories. Many other schedulers don’t categorize by content. Through the years there are more integrations and collaborations happening with it. Of course it is web-based which has its own pros and cons. I like the fact that you can start a post in bulk and then customize for each social media platform. When I go to write a post, once I have put a photo on, the link, as well as the tags then the whole program slows down like we are back in the 90s on dial up. This means to fully complete one post it can take up to 45 minutes, even on a fast computer. This has put me off using it almost completely and demotivates me from keeping my posts new.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

SocialBee is an excellent tool for users who value content organization and automated scheduling. Its content categorization and evergreen recycling features make it perfect for small businesses, solopreneurs, and agencies looking to save time while keeping their social media strategy varied. While it lacks advanced analytics and social listening, SocialBee provides a solid set of features at a competitive price, making it a great choice for users who don’t require deep data insights. If you’re looking for an easy way to manage and schedule posts while maintaining content variety, SocialBee is a great option.

“Agorapulse needs to step up”

I like how easily I can schedule our social media posts, however, I think Agora needs to step up their AI game. They lack behind features that are readily available with other social media tools.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

Agorapulse is an excellent social media management tool for teams, agencies, and businesses that require advanced features like social listening, detailed analytics, and team collaboration. Its unified social inbox and competitor tracking features make it stand out from the competition, offering a complete solution for managing and optimizing social media strategies. Capterra: User Review

“You get what you pay for”

Just disappointing. Some of the analytic features are great, but selecting to view a different time period is broken. I keep getting frustrated using ContentStudio so came to Capterra to vent a bit. I was very surprised to see so many strong reviews. Yes, it’s relatively cheap, but not so cheap that after contacting support around 5 times in the space of a year, on two occasions I received no reply whatsoever.

Final Verdict

ContentStudio is a versatile and powerful tool for businesses, agencies, and marketers looking to manage both social media and blog content from one platform. “Okay social media scheduler”

Overall, it has been a decent program for scheduling. I like that you can link so many different types of accounts on one platform and that you can use the same text and image for multiple accounts if desired. I don’t like that when the administrator approves posts via the app it automatically places the posts into the next time slot and not the time that the post was actually scheduled for.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

SocialPilot is a strong choice for small businesses, solopreneurs, and agencies that need a cost-effective social media scheduling solution. Its affordable pricing, bulk scheduling, and client management tools make it a valuable option for agencies managing multiple accounts. However, the lack of advanced analytics and social listening features may be a downside for data-driven marketers or brands focused on deep audience insights. If affordability and ease of use are your top priorities, SocialPilot delivers an impressive suite of features for the price.

“Not As Expected”

Customer support doesn’t guide you through a process when you have a problem they just point to a link so you can read and figure it out for yourself. I will not be renewing next year. I like the part where you can publish to all your social media accounts at one time. If I knew from the start that your Instagram pages need to be converted to a business page I wouldn’t have bought the product. I have had trouble ever since with Instagram to convert and it just doesn’t work.

★★★☆☆

Final Verdict

CoSchedule is an excellent choice for marketing teams and businesses that need a comprehensive platform to manage all aspects of their content strategy. Its marketing calendar, collaboration tools, and ReQueue feature make it ideal for teams that want to streamline their social media and content management. However, the higher price point and advanced feature set may be overkill for smaller businesses or solo marketers. If you’re looking for an all-in-one marketing management tool that covers more than just social media scheduling, CoSchedule is a great option.

How to Choose the Best Scheduling Tool for Your Requirements?

Choosing the right social media scheduling tool depends on your specific needs, goals, and the size of your team. With so many options available, it’s important to consider several factors before making a decision. Here are some key things to look for when selecting the best scheduling tool for your requirements:

1. Platform Support

Different tools support different social media platforms. If you’re managing multiple accounts across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or TikTok, make sure the tool you choose can handle all the platforms you use. Some tools excel in Instagram scheduling, while others offer broader platform support.

2. Ease of Use

A tool that is easy to navigate and use can save time and reduce frustration. Look for a user-friendly interface with drag-and-drop scheduling, content previews, and simple analytics. If the tool is too complex, you may spend more time managing it than actually creating content.

3. Features

Identify what features are most important to you. Some tools focus heavily on scheduling and automation, while others provide additional features like social listening, competitor analysis, or content curation. Features such as bulk scheduling, content recycling, or hashtag recommendations may be essential for your social media strategy.

4. Team Collaboration

If you work with a team, you’ll need a tool that supports collaboration. Features like task assignments, approval workflows, and multi-user access can help streamline your content creation process. Check if the tool allows for team roles and permissions to manage multiple contributors effectively.

5. Analytics and Reporting

Data-driven decisions are key to optimizing your social media strategy. Look for tools that provide detailed analytics, tracking engagement, reach, and post performance. Some tools also offer custom reporting options, which can be useful for agencies or businesses that need to share reports with clients or management.

6. Automation

Automation can save you a lot of time. Tools with features like auto-posting, content recycling for evergreen posts, and suggested posting times based on analytics can greatly simplify your social media management. If automation is important to you, ensure the tool offers enough flexibility to meet your needs.

7. Budget

Pricing is an important factor when selecting a tool. Most platforms offer tiered pricing plans, including free versions with limited features and more comprehensive plans for businesses. Determine your budget and ensure the tool offers good value for the features you need. Keep in mind that some tools may offer a free trial, allowing you to test them before committing.

8. Customer Support

Reliable customer support can make a big difference, especially when you’re learning how to use the tool or encounter issues. Check for live chat, email support, or knowledge bases with tutorials. Tools with responsive customer support can help resolve any issues more quickly and keep your social media management running smoothly.

By considering these factors, you’ll be able to choose the social media scheduling tools that best aligns with your goals and simplifies your social media management. Whether you’re a small business, a large agency, or an individual content creator, the right tool can save you time and help you maximize your social media potential.
