L stands for Loss. The meaning is the same as that of the actual word. It is used to indicate a loss or defeat or someone or something. It is most widely used by people for sports and games. “We had a close call last night night. We had an L by one run in the cricket match.” Again, a loss is described in this case and the term loss is used in the internet slang form.
“If you don’t want to listen to your doctors then it’s your L.” Loss here is used to show that someone is losing something over their arrogance. This slang can also be used in this manner over text messages.
