Duet

We have all seen the word Duet all over social media. But what exactly does it mean? On social media platforms like TikTok, Duet is a feature using which one can make videos in interaction with others. This feature helps in creating videos side by side with other creators or in the form of a split screen. When such videos are created, they are called duets.

These videos are usually created for dance duets, reaction videos, collaborations, music videos and response clips. For example, “I have made a dance duet with my friend and posted it on TikTok. To our surprise, it got over 1 million views.” Here the person is talking about making a dance video that shows her and her friend dancing side by side in one frame.

This can also apply to song videos. People often make song duets where they sing portions of a song while the other waits for their turn. “Me and Andrew, we made a duet of the song ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ by Selena Gomez and Charlie Puth.” Here they made a song duet where each sang the portions on a screen side by side.

There are a lot of reaction videos online, where a person reacts to a video which can be a reel, movie, song video or clips from YouTube videos. For example, there are a lot of reaction videos to people trying foreign food. An Italian person might react to people trying Italian food and do so by making a duet with the original video.

A lot of collaborations online are also in the duet form, where the celebrities or influencers react to product videos and give their honest opinion on the products.” A duet can collaborate both the accounts that are in the video and help in getting them better engagement and insights on the video. Furthermore, people enjoy Duet videos a lot and people post them often on TikTok.

Response videos are also made in the form of duets. For example, if an influencer posts something online and mentions someone else, the other person can make a duet and give a response to the content of that video. “She made a video on mental health and referred me as a source to seek help since I am a psychiatrist. I then made a duet to interact with her content and express gratitude for being the trusted choice for her.”

Now that the concept of duet is cleared, go and use this term without worrying that you might use it wrong!
