Say Less

We have all been in multiple situations where we were asked for an opinion. We would usually say “Yes, I agree”, “Of course”, or “OMG, Yess” and so on. But what if there is another way of showing agreement? “Say Less” is slang on social media that is used to express enthusiastic replies or agreement. If you want to tell someone how appealing their idea is or how much you agree with them, just use this internet slang.

This is a GenZ way of expressing how much you are in alignment with the people around you. Sometimes, when you are gossiping and can’t believe something, you can simply use this slang. It is a great way of sarcastically and lightheadedly making conversations.

This slang is believed to have originated from African American Vernacular English. This became very popular online and ever since then many people have been using it in their daily conversations.

Examples –

Person 1 – “The new part of Dune is really amazing. I was so amazed by the cinematography and the acting of Zendaya.” Person 2 – “Say less.” Here the person is showing strong enthusiasm over a movie review a friend is giving because she is in strong agreement with her.

Person 1 – “The New Year’s party is at Steve’s and I am guessing you are coming.” Person 2 – “Say less.” Here the person is indicating that they are coming to the party for sure.

Person 1 – “You know we kinda think that Steve from the marketing department is dating Anna.” Person 2 – “Say less.” In this example, the person is showing shock towards the gossip that two people in the office might be dating. This phrase can also be used in this manner.
