Finsta

If you are someone with multiple accounts on Instagram, then it is kind of predictable that one of your accounts is private and has more candid content. Finsta is a term that every social media user should know about. The question is what does it really mean? The word finsta stands for – Fake + Instagram. Hence the term “Finsta”.

This term is used for any kind of private accounts on Instagram that are fake. These accounts are generally private and have very little following. They have content that is personal, candid or humorous that a person would like to share only with a selective audience. We have all heard of people who have a main account on Instagram and have a fake account where they post about stuff and content only for the target audience.

A fake account can also be someone trying to pretend someone else on social media. In this case, the posts might be deceptive and may also contain content that is irrelevant to the account itself.

Examples –

“Jonathangram is my real and public Instagram account, where I post travel blogs and on my finsta I post content on my personal life. That is why I let only selective people follow me on that account.” – here the person is trying to say how he has a fake account on Instagram where he posts candid content that only his selected followers can see.

This type of account usually has unfiltered and more authentic content. People these days are opening these kinds of accounts to keep information private and not overshare. “I have a finsta where I post about my daily life. The content is unfiltered and I feel like it’s my safe space because I don’t feel vulnerable to share in this account.”

“If you are wondering why my Instagram feed is so dry, then let me tell you that I have a Finsta. I post about my personal life there and you can follow me there if you promise to not share my content anywhere else with other people.”
