Side Eye

There are millions of expressions and people have done a great job creating a lot of emojis for them. But at certain times, the feeling is so much more better when using the words to express it. The side eye is one such expression. Have you ever felt suspicious about some friend you are talking to? Or you might have felt sceptical about something at times. This is when this internet slang can be used.

This term is used to express that you are suspicious about something or someone. Being sceptical also accounts for using this expression. Sometimes we all disapprove of certain things. In these cases, simply use this term and your message is pretty much conveyed. It is often utilized to express nonverbal messages of doubt or distrust.

If you want to be lighthearted the next time you disapprove of your friend’s choice, just use this term and you’re good to go! There was also a Reel music on Instagram dedicated to this expression and people used the audio widely.

Examples –

Person 1 – “Don’t tell me you texted your ex again. Why do you keep doing that?”

Person 2 – “But I missed him.”

Person 1 – “Side Eye.”

Here we see a conversation between two best friends. Naturally, the best friend disapproves of her friend texting her ex and gives her disapproval by using this internet slang.

“Boss was giving me the side eye the whole time during the meeting. I’m pretty sure he did not approve of the presentation that I gave.” In this case, a colleague is describing how she thinks her boss might not have approved her presentation at the meeting and was giving her a side eye because of that.

“Don’t give me the side eye. I genuinely didn’t do anything.”
