OOMF (One Of My Followers)

Unlike real life, where we used to talk like, “You know one of my friends told this” or “You know one of my friends is doing this” we have all upgraded. Now it is all about “You know OOMF is doing this” or “OOMF is going to Europe”. The Internet has sure changed a lot of things. It has introduced a lot of abbreviations that we might not get a hang of. What does OOMF mean? It stands for “One of my followers”.

Just like it sounds in its full form, the meaning is quite simple. It is used to explain something a follower has said or done but in a short form. These days, we discuss our social life on social media much more than our actual lives. We talk about how we are bonding with our followers and internet friends, Many times we also take suggestions and advice from our online friends. To express these situations this internet term can be used.

Examples –

“You know I was struggling with mental health issues until OOMF came forward and shared her journey with me. We communicate on a daily basis now and it has helped me a lot in my recovery.” Here the person is talking about one of her followers and hence she has used this abbreviation.

“OOMF was constantly stalking me online and it got to a point where I had to report him.” In this case, the person is explaining how one of her followers was stalking her and it got so bad that she had to report him.

“I was craving some authentic Korean Kimchi and guess what! OOMF is going to her hometown in Korea and promised to bring me some Kimchi from her Grandmother’s Kitchen. Isn’t that sick?”
