Cover Photo

A Facebook cover photo is a large, horizontal image that appears at the top of your Facebook profile or page. It is one of the most prominent features of your profile, providing a visual introduction to you or your brand if you are a business account. Cover photos are public, meaning anyone visiting your profile or page can see them.

Key features of a Facebook Cover Photo –

  1. Size: The recommended size for a Facebook cover photo is 820 pixels wide by 312 pixels tall on desktop, and 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall on mobile.
  2. Visibility: Cover photos are public, so they are visible to anyone who visits your profile or page, even if they are not your friend or follower.
  3. Customization: You can customize your cover photo to showcase your personality, interests, or brand. This can include photos of you, your artwork, a scenic view, or anything else that represents you or your business.
  4. Changeability: You can change your cover picture as often as you like. This allows you to keep your profile or page fresh and relevant.
  5. Cropping: Facebook may crop your photo slightly, especially on mobile devices, so it’s important to keep important content within the safe zone (the centre of the image).

Tips for choosing a cover photo for Facebook –

  1. For personal profiles, consider using a photo of you doing something you love or a scenic view that represents your personality.
  2. For business pages, use a cover image that showcases your products, services, or brand values.
  3. Ensure your cover photo is clear and high-resolution to avoid pixelation.
  4. Avoid cluttering your cover picture with too much text or too many elements.
  5. Keep in mind that your profile picture and the buttons and text on your cover picture will overlay part of the image. Place important elements of your cover image towards the centre or the sides, where they won’t be covered.
  6. If your profile or page represents a group or community, consider using a cover photo that shows diversity and inclusivity.
  7. Remember that the appearance of your cover image may vary between desktop and mobile devices. Check how your cover picture looks on both to ensure it looks good on all devices.
